In order to use the Open Gate Mode on Canon's Brand New C50 Cinema Camera there are a few things you need to do first. Most importantly, you need to insure you are using one of Canon's approved high-speed memory cards. For example The SanDisk Pro Cinema Express VGP400 Memory Card.

Once you've ensured that you memory card has a fast enough write speed. You need to touch anywhere to open the "Direct Touch Control Interface." Then simply select the "Recording Settings" icon in the upper left.

On the "Recording Settings" screen you just need to chance you Sensor Mode from it's current setting to "Full Frame 3:2"
Now open the "Menu", and navigate to the "Recording/Media Setup" tab. From her make sure your "Main Recording Destination" is set to your VPG 400 CFexpress Card. That your "Sensor Mode" is set to "Full Frame 3:2". That your "Main Resolution" is set to "6960x4640. And that your Frame Rate, and Bit Rate are set to your desired option.
